Megan Warren, hailing from Newfoundland and Labrador, is a piano technician and accomplished musician, now making her mark in Toronto.
Megan's ambition for refining her aural skills took her to Boston in 2022, enrolling at the esteemed North Bennet Street School, one of the rare piano technology programs left in North America. Here, she was trained to tune pianos exclusively by ear, and passed rigorous exams and assessments in regulation, repairs, and standard piano maintenance. She was taught classes by industry luminaries such as Mario Igrec, David Stanwood, Anne Garee, and Daniel Levitan, and visited the New York Steinway Factory and the Mason and Hamlin Factory. After graduating, Megan completed a piano technician internship at Boston University Tanglewood Institute in Lenox, Massachusetts.
Megan's passion for music led her to obtain a Bachelor of Music from Memorial University of Newfoundland. Before graduating, she co-founded Repartee, an award-winning band known for their 2016 Canadian Billboard top 40 hit, "Dukes". Transitioning into a solo music career, Megan delved into audio engineering and production. She received specialized training in mixing engineering from Michael Philip Wojewoda (Barenaked Ladies, Great Big Sea). In 2020 Megan co-produced and co-engineered her EP 'A Thousand Ways', alongside Daniel Ledwell (Jenn Grant, Good Lovelies). The lead single 'Bomb' was featured in the film 'Alice, Darling', starring Anna Kendrick.
Currently, Megan is tuning and servicing pianos as a piano technician at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. Working closely with accomplished technicians Damon Groves and Jessica Lombardi, she contributes to the upkeep and optimal performance of the conservatory's extensive collection of pianos.
